C-grader upstages Proserpine golfers
C-GRADE golfer Peter Spiers has won the May Airlie Beach Hotel Monthly Medal. Spiers carded 62 to finish clear of fellow C-grader Chris Harvey (64).
Rob Stanley won the Agrade title with 65 ahead of Rod Wecker (68) while Bgrade’s title went to Warren Deighton (66) from Andrew Scotford (67).
The winner of the Green Technologies Ladies’ Monthly Medal was Mandy Patterson with a nett score of 69 while Jill Farinelli carded 73 for second.
The men’s countdown com- prised Travis Clinch (65), Wayne Russell, Andrew Walsh (65), Patrick Patterson (66), Rob Smith (67), Chris Weigand and Andy Pearson (68).
Nearest-the-pins went to Matt Goldman (no. 2), Kevin Duffy, Mandy Patterson (9), Rob Stanley (13) and Kevin Duffy (16).
The two-shot club was shared four ways with Theunis Venter, Rob Stanley (no. 13), Kevin Duffy and Larry Muller (16). Meanwhile Vic Feldman returned from holiday to win Thursday’s division 1 stableford with 41 points.
Warren Deighton was second with 40 points while the division 2 title went to Rob Webb (43) from Jim Dowell (38). The division 1 ball rundown included George Meharry (40), Andy Pearson (39) and Scott Wardroper (38).
The nine-hole competition was also won by Webb (24), ahead of runner-up George Meharry, Finbar O’Flynn, Andrew Pearson and Vic Feldman (22).
Nearest-the-pins went to Webb (no. 2), Glenn McKerley (9), Tom Fleming (13) and Ron Little (16).
This weekend the annual four ball best ball champion- ship will be held at the Proserpine Golf Club.
A normal competition will follow and the three best pairs will fight it out in a play-off for the prizes sponsored by club pro Kane Nusteling.
Thursday players will play a stableford event in two divisions over both nine and 18 holes from 7am.
A good field turned out for the junior competition this week.
Kaylen Douthwaite won both gross and nett prizes in the nine-hole competition, bettering runners-up Levi Holmes and Jack Raiteri.
Jack Valmadre starred in the six-hole competition, winning both gross and nett prizes ahead of Tayarn BarleyLooke.
Lucas Cretan won the fourhole competition and Ryan Mitchell won the nett prize from Lucas Cretan and Sam Cretan.
Mandy Patterson and Kath Borer bested the field on Wednesday at the Proserpine Golf Club, winning the American foursomes competition. Mandy and Kath scored 73.75 to beat Reh Hull and Debbie Niall (74) and Wendy Bradley and Lyn Muller.
Nearest-the-pins went to Caroline Awdry and Melanie Patullo (no. 18), Pam Casey and Marlene Gray (16) and Mandy Patterson and Kath Borer (13).
In other news, six ladies travelled to Home Hill for their ladies’ open.
Trish McNeill, Jacqui Wall, Kath Borer, Sherrie Meade, Tina Badenhorst and Melanie Patullo all took part on Saturday.
Sherrie took home the gross prize in the C-grade division.
Next week the ladies will contest a four-ball best ball competition.
