C-grader up­stages Proser­pine golfers

C-GRADE golfer Peter Spiers has won the May Air­lie Beach Ho­tel Monthly Medal. Spiers carded 62 to fin­ish clear of fel­low C-grader Chris Har­vey (64).

Rob Stan­ley won the Agrade ti­tle with 65 ahead of Rod Wecker (68) while Bgrade’s ti­tle went to War­ren Deighton (66) from An­drew Scot­ford (67).

The win­ner of the Green Tech­nolo­gies Ladies’ Monthly Medal was Mandy Pat­ter­son with a nett score of 69 while Jill Farinelli carded 73 for sec­ond.

The men’s count­down com- prised Travis Clinch (65), Wayne Rus­sell, An­drew Walsh (65), Pa­trick Pat­ter­son (66), Rob Smith (67), Chris Weigand and Andy Pear­son (68).

Near­est-the-pins went to Matt Gold­man (no. 2), Kevin Duffy, Mandy Pat­ter­son (9), Rob Stan­ley (13) and Kevin Duffy (16).

The two-shot club was shared four ways with The­u­nis Ven­ter, Rob Stan­ley (no. 13), Kevin Duffy and Larry Muller (16). Mean­while Vic Feld­man re­turned from hol­i­day to win Thurs­day’s di­vi­sion 1 stable­ford with 41 points.

War­ren Deighton was sec­ond with 40 points while the di­vi­sion 2 ti­tle went to Rob Webb (43) from Jim Dow­ell (38). The di­vi­sion 1 ball run­down in­cluded Ge­orge Me­harry (40), Andy Pear­son (39) and Scott Wardroper (38).

The nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion was also won by Webb (24), ahead of run­ner-up Ge­orge Me­harry, Fin­bar O’Flynn, An­drew Pear­son and Vic Feld­man (22).

Near­est-the-pins went to Webb (no. 2), Glenn McKer­ley (9), Tom Flem­ing (13) and Ron Lit­tle (16).

This week­end the an­nual four ball best ball cham­pion- ship will be held at the Proser­pine Golf Club.

A nor­mal com­pe­ti­tion will fol­low and the three best pairs will fight it out in a play-off for the prizes spon­sored by club pro Kane Nustel­ing.

Thurs­day play­ers will play a stable­ford event in two di­vi­sions over both nine and 18 holes from 7am.


A good field turned out for the ju­nior com­pe­ti­tion this week.

Kaylen Douth­waite won both gross and nett prizes in the nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion, bet­ter­ing run­ners-up Levi Holmes and Jack Rai­teri.

Jack Val­madre starred in the six-hole com­pe­ti­tion, win­ning both gross and nett prizes ahead of Ta­yarn Bar­leyLooke.

Lu­cas Cre­tan won the four­hole com­pe­ti­tion and Ryan Mitchell won the nett prize from Lu­cas Cre­tan and Sam Cre­tan.


Mandy Pat­ter­son and Kath Borer bested the field on Wed­nes­day at the Proser­pine Golf Club, win­ning the Amer­i­can four­somes com­pe­ti­tion. Mandy and Kath scored 73.75 to beat Reh Hull and Deb­bie Niall (74) and Wendy Bradley and Lyn Muller.

Near­est-the-pins went to Caro­line Awdry and Me­lanie Pat­ullo (no. 18), Pam Casey and Mar­lene Gray (16) and Mandy Pat­ter­son and Kath Borer (13).

In other news, six ladies trav­elled to Home Hill for their ladies’ open.

Tr­ish McNeill, Jac­qui Wall, Kath Borer, Sher­rie Meade, Tina Baden­horst and Me­lanie Pat­ullo all took part on Satur­day.

Sher­rie took home the gross prize in the C-grade di­vi­sion.

Next week the ladies will con­test a four-ball best ball com­pe­ti­tion.
