Bowlers get ready for May Day carnival
THE Proserpine Bowls Club is gearing up for the May Day Carnival this weekend.
The annual event will take place on Saturday and members helped dress the Val De Boni Green during the week.
“We are hoping for a continuation of this great weather for this event,” Heather Brown said. “There are always some great bowls played at this carnival each year.”
On Sunday 19 players took part in social play, with John Lahney, Dot Hinschen and Maree Daffara defeating Peter Lawton, Jo Peasley and Kevin Thorogood 26-12 while Derek Brown, Sandy Daffara and Heather Brown took the points from Jeanette Calway, Arthur Williams and Philip Brown 24-17.
Fran Porter, Rick Williams and Jim Quod rounded out the day by overpowering Lillian Harris, John Henderson, Gail Camm and Barbara Dam-
On Wednesday glorious weather greeted three competition games.
In Club Championship Singles Joan McGrath defeated Fran Porter 25-8 and Norma Daniels defeated Wendy Pomeroy 25-18.
It was a close game in the Club Championship Pairs but June Blair and Heather Brown overcame Flo O’Hanlon and Heather Patullo 22-16.
In social games, Joyce Patullo, John Dammash and Gail Camm knocked over Arthur Williams, Lill Burke, Noelie Dibben and Joy Jeffries 23-13 while Cathy Holmes and Jo Peasley ousted Carlie Albertson and Maree Daffara/Joan McGrath 2317.
A representative from Aero Bowls will be present from 10am while the next committee meeting takes place on May 13 at 10am.
