TV characters a huge hit with kids

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY KIDS -

SCREAMS of delight could be heard from Sarah’s Family Day Care in Cannonvale last week – and for good reason too.

Dorothy the Dinosaur and Pepper Pig in the flesh – or furry costumes – were there.

“It was a huge hit – so many families came,” Sarah’s Family Day Care educator Sarah Berry said. “We had about 20 kids.” Ms Berry said Pepper Pig proved a popular visitor. “We had organised Dorothy and a lot of the parents requested that we do Pepper Pig,” she said.

“(And) the kids have been obsessed with Pepper Pig.”

For the children, however, the day was about more than just a visit from their television favourites.

“All the kids came dressed up,” Ms Berry said.

“Some were Spider-Man, some were pirates, there were princesses and there was a polar bear.” And of course, it’s just not a party without nibblies for children and adults.

“Every parent brought a plate and all the kids sat around and had morning tea,” Ms Berry said, adding this was also a something of a social event for the parents as well.

“It was good because all the parents got to get together and meet each other,” she said.
