Under-9s secure big win with top defence
THE under-9s continue to improve, posting a resounding 38–10 win on Saturday at the Proserpine Sports Complex.
The Proserpine Whitsunday Junior Rugby League team won its encounter with Norths largely due to a resolute defensive effort and a willingness to throw the ball around in attack.
In other scores, the under-10s, led by Ryan Donnelly, lost 30–18 despite a determined effort while the 11s were narrowly edged out 26–20 in a close match.
The game of the day came in the under-12s, where the Brahmans came back to split the points.
Whitsunday fought resiliently to clinch a 24–24 draw against Norths despite trailing for much of the match.
The under-13s dominated their Norths’ rivals for a 46–6 triumph while the 14s pulverised Devils in their encounter to win by more than 50 points.
The under-15s also joined the winners’ circle, prevailing 27–12 on Saturday morning.
Norths forfeited the under-16s clash, gifting the Brahmans the points.
This weekend all teams will take to the Mackay Junior Rugby League Fields for a round of matches. The next round of home games will take place on May 30, when the club hosts Brothers.
