Rampage through Airlie
A CANNONVALE man who went on a rampage through Airlie told the Proserpine Magistrates Court he had no recollection of the night.
Zack Morgan Rayner, 26, was charged with trespassing, burglary, public nuisance, wilful damage and obstructing police after a string of incidents on February 19.
At 7.20pm he approached two strangers, a man and woman, outside the Down Under Bar. He is alleged to have grabbed the woman’s drink, thrown it on the road and struck the man with a bottle.
About 10 minutes later another woman reported being chased down the bicentennial boardwalk and just a short time after this Rayner swam into the Abell Point Marina. Here he climbed onto a jetty, boarded a boat, untied it from the dock and pushed the owner overboard.
He was arrested after again swimming through the marina, boarding a different boat and refusing to leave.
Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist said there was “clearly more than alcohol involved in this”, and placed him on probation for two years.
Rayner was also required to pay $1255 in restitution costs.
