“THANK God I didn’t hurt anybody,” Tony Michael Van Iersel told Monday’s sitting of the Proserpine Magistrates Court.

His comments came as he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

It was blowing more than four times over the legal limit that landed Van Iersel in court.

On April 30 at 4.50pm, police noticed a white Hyundai Accent driving erratically on Shute Harbour Rd, Jubilee Pocket.

The driver, Van Iersel, told the officers he’d consumed four drinks of white wine between 1 and 4pm. His reading was 0.232. “I’d just done a threemonth rehab course,” he said, admitting, “I’ve got a drinking problem”.

Van Iersel was fined $1400 and disqualified from driving for 15 months.
