Under-8s Day full of fun and games
THE Whitsunday Christian College celebrated Under-8’s Day on Friday with a series of activities and games.
Students from Prep to Year 2 participated in a range of fun-filled craft activities as well as biscuit-decorating, face-painting, dancing and even a jumping castle.
Under-8’s Week is an event initiated by Early Childhood Australia Queensland Branch, which has been running for 50 years across Queensland.
Children from daycare, schools, playgrounds and communities celebrate being under eight years old.
Events are run at a local level with the theme decided by the Under Eights Committee.
“The theme this year was ‘celebrate’ and we certainly did,” Under-8’s Day co-ordinator Michelle Wales said.
“It provided opportunities for the children to celebrate being under eight and mix with other children of a similar age. All of the activities they were involved in encouraged collaboration and through this, we were able to enjoy a fun day with parents, teachers and their friends.”
Cannonvale State School will host its Under-8’s day on Friday from 9-11am.
