Un­der-8s Day full of fun and games

THE Whit­sun­day Chris­tian Col­lege cel­e­brated Un­der-8’s Day on Fri­day with a se­ries of ac­tiv­i­ties and games.

Stu­dents from Prep to Year 2 par­tic­i­pated in a range of fun-filled craft ac­tiv­i­ties as well as bis­cuit-dec­o­rat­ing, face-paint­ing, danc­ing and even a jump­ing cas­tle.

Un­der-8’s Week is an event ini­ti­ated by Early Child­hood Australia Queens­land Branch, which has been run­ning for 50 years across Queens­land.

Chil­dren from day­care, schools, play­grounds and com­mu­ni­ties cel­e­brate be­ing un­der eight years old.

Events are run at a lo­cal level with the theme de­cided by the Un­der Eights Com­mit­tee.

“The theme this year was ‘cel­e­brate’ and we cer­tainly did,” Un­der-8’s Day co-or­di­na­tor Michelle Wales said.

“It pro­vided op­por­tu­ni­ties for the chil­dren to cel­e­brate be­ing un­der eight and mix with other chil­dren of a sim­i­lar age. All of the ac­tiv­i­ties they were in­volved in en­cour­aged col­lab­o­ra­tion and through this, we were able to en­joy a fun day with par­ents, teach­ers and their friends.”

Can­non­vale State School will host its Un­der-8’s day on Fri­day from 9-11am.
