Local body builders put on a show

Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

A quartet of Whitsunday body builders has put the region on the map.

Wendy Whibley, Carmen Lee, Kyle McCormack and Jake Gordon all travelled north on the weekend to take part in INBA Tropix Townsville.

Kyle managed to win his teenage division and place fourth in the novice men, while Gordon finished one place better in third.

All four body builders, who all work at Airlie Fitness and Better Body Nutrition, deserve praise for their commit- ment to a stringent regime of dieting and training, according to Airlie Fitness’ manager Corey Whibley.

“It’s months and months of commitment. They were already doing a lot of training but there’s also very strict dieting and cutting,” he said.

“They’ve been training for a good 12 weeks but there has been some extreme discipline in the last week or two when they needed to shred up for the competition.”

Gordon, Carmen and Wendy were all first-time competitors and are expected to return to next year’s event better than ever.
