Knowing they had to kick a winning score in the third, the Sea Eagles threw everything at the Tigers, booting 6.2 in a dominant quarter to all but seal the result.

Despite coming home with the wind, the Tigers yielded with a whimper, as Whitsunday outscored the visitors four goals to nil in the final term.

Sea Eagles’ stand-in coach Luke Sommerville said the team deserved the win following a difficult start to the Allied Pickfords Cup.

“It’s great to get a win on the board but even more pleasing was the way we went about it,” he said.

“It was a really solid team performance with every player contributing.

“The work we’ve been doing at training is starting to pay off and it now sets up a massive clash with the reigning premiers Moranbah this weekend.”
