Botanica invites couples back

Whitsunday Times - - COMMUNITY AND BUSINESS -

A PREMIER Whitsunday wedding venue has welcomed 30 of its past couples back to the private estate.

Villa Botanica in Strathdickie held an inaugural Back to Botanica open day earlier this month.

Thirty couples, some were wedded at the estate as far back as 2008, travelled from as far as Western Australia, South Australia and New South Wales to make the most of the rare opportunity.

Botanica Weddings marketing manager Jade Korosec said the day was the result of the frequent comments made by brides of their desire to return to the wedding venue.

“Part of my role with Botanica Weddings is to interview our wedding couples for real wedding features and too often I was hearing from brides how they would love nothing more than to return to Villa Botanica, to walk the gardens and take in the beauty of the five-acre estate without the frenzied energy of wedding day,” she said.

The day did not disappoint, with the Whitsundays turning on brilliant weather for the couples and a host of Botanica Weddings staff on hand to serve canapés on the terrace lawn, a spit roast on the sea deck and cocktails on the beach.

With proceeds of the day being donated to the Endeavour Foundation, Janet and Ralph Hogan, owners of the Villa Botanica estate, were delighted to contribute $1000 to the not- for-profit organisation, which assists local community members with disabilities.

“It was a real pleasure for Ralph and me to meet some of our couples and see how they were travelling post wedding. We talked about the power of commitment, the importance of celebrating life’s milestones and spoke about our new venue, Saratoga in Bali,” Janet said.

“There was talk amongst some of renewing their vows in Bali and I can’t think of anything that would give us more satisfaction than seeing these couples becoming lifelong friends and part of the Botanica family.”

Mr and Ms Hogan are planning for the event to become an annual occasion.
