Travellers well advised of Whitsundays’ excellence

Whitsunday Times - - BUSINESS -

THE travellers have spoken.

Nearly 100 Whitsunday accommodation providers, eateries and attractions are among the best Australia has to offer.

Whitsunday businesses bagged 99 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence awards for 2015, with 20 of them earning a spot in the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame.

To enter the Hall of Fame, businesses must have earned a Certificate of Excellence for five years in a row, meaning the Whitsundays alone makes up 7.5 per cent of businesses in the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame for Queensland.

The Certificate of Excellence award celebrates distinction in hospitality and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve great traveller reviews on TripAdvisor.

Certificate of Excellence winners include accommodations, eateries and attractions all over the world that have continually delivered a superior customer experience.

In the last year, Queensland has seen an 87.9 per cent increase in the number of Certificates of Excellence awarded, with 2146 given out for 2015, nearly doubling 2014’s total of 1142.

Whitsundays Marketing and Development Limited executive director Jeff Aquilina said the awards reflected the high quality products on offer in the Whitsundays.

“It certainly reinforces commitments from One&On- ly Hayman, Hamilton Island, and the recent announcement of Daydream Island who are investing in renewing their product,” Mr Aquilina said.

“This reinforces the Whitsundays as one of the world’s leading aquatic and marine destinations.” TripAdvisor for Business president Marc Charron said the organisation was pleased to honour exceptional hospitality businesses.

“By putting a spotlight on businesses that are focused on delivering great service to customers, TripAdvisor not only helps drive an improvement to hospitality standards around the world, it also gives businesses both large and small the ability to shine and stand out from the competition,” he said.

WINNER, WINNER: Toni Ward from Whitsunday Jetski and Tours and Jan Claxton from Ocean Rafting, at Abell Point Marina, show off their shiny Trip Advisor awards.
