Trio on tar­get af­ter seal­ing place in triples fi­nal

AIR­LIE BOWLS: Kevin Jewell, Rick Wil­liams and Nik Fern­bach have won through to the men’s triples fi­nal af­ter over­com­ing a stern chal­lenge in their semi-fi­nal at the week­end.

The trio de­feated Steve Tat­tam, Dom Sposato and Col Howes 22-13 in a hard-fought af­fair at the Air­lie Beach Bowls Club on Sun­day.

Jill Spencer, Mar­garet Heeney and Henny Tat­tam won their ladies’ triples game against Margo Stan­ley, Betty Ni­col and Elaine Had­low 2018.

In other re­sults from the week­end, Wally Gray, Con­nie Wilkin­son and Jenny Ry­der teamed up to beat Gus Fer­liano, Ron Reimers and Terry San­ders 17-12 in a so­cial game while Souths Sub­ur­ban got the bet­ter of Air­lie Beach in the di­vi­sion 3 pen­nants clash on Satur­day.

In the A-grade sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion, Rick Wil­liams notched two wins on Satur­day, tak­ing care of Steve Roome 2620 be­fore hit­ting the rink again to dis­man­tle Daryl Tut­tle 25-5.

James Argo won his Agrade sin­gles bout ear­lier in the week, oust­ing Nik Fern­bach 25-22.

In the men’s A-grade pairs semi-fi­nal played Fri­day Andy Bell and Bob McMa­hon proved no match for Nathan Har­riott and Man Is­gro who won 28-11.

In the ladies’ matches played Tues­day, Elaine Had­low, Regina Aqualina and Jill Spencer en­joyed a good win, down­ing Margo Stan­ley, Jo Howes and Di Dob­bins 26-19.

Doreen Peadon, Con­nie Wilkin­son and Henny Tat­tam also fin­ished im­pres­sive win­ners with a 19-9 tri­umph over Lane Telford, Noela White­head and Elaine Kip­pen.

Dom Sposato and Steve Tat­tam were vic­to­ri­ous in Wed­nes­day men’s jack­pot play, beat­ing Herb Se­comb and Nik Fern­bach 27-21.

Peter Law­ton, Steve Wil­ton and Nick Daniel also notched a win in the jack­pot play, down­ing Paul Os­borne, Acka Paul and Nick Daniel 20-12 while Barry Zill­man and John Sladek de­feated Derek Brown and Jim Cairns 26-19.

ON TAR­GET: Nathan Har­riott main­tains his form dur­ing play at the Air­lie Beach Bowls Club.
