FOOTBALL: Another day and another win for the Whitsunday Football Club’s premier men.

The team continued on their merry way on Saturday in Mackay, downing Lions 3-0 to stay undefeated in the Mackay Premier League.

Despite the comfortable win, WFC football manager Anthony Nobilia said the players weren’t satisfied with their performance.

“In their opinion they didn’t play well at all,” Nobilia said.

“I thought they did what they had to do.

“They went up two or three goals early and we closed the game off, which is what we’ve been focussing on.

“It wasn’t pretty. We played ugly and still won so that’s a positive. Whether it’s ugly it doesn’t matter.

“It’s just a habit now and we can win on pure attitude.

“That’s the mode we’re getting into at the moment and we’re getting accustomed to winning.”

Ryan Lee, Ben Smith and Richard Draper each found their way onto the scoresheet. Although WFC is undefeated the club sits in second on the ladder behind Wanderers based solely on goal difference. Overall it was a perfect round for WFC, with all three teams defeating their Lions’ opponents on the day. The reserves maintained their lead on the ladder with a 1-0 grind over Lions while the MCL team was similarly impressive. MCL prevailed 2-1 over the ladder-leading Lions to record the team’s second win of the season.

WFC’s MCL are in sixth position on the ladder.
