AFTER a rough start to life, arriving at Whitsunday Friends of the RSPCA hairless, covered in sores and with a compromised immune system, Karma the eight-monthold catahoula-great dane cross has a new home.

Woodwark resident Matthew Bels, who took Karma home from the Whitsunday Friends of the RSPCA’s first adoption day on Sunday, was understandably excited to meet his new four-footed friend.

All 26 animals that were up for adoption on Sunday have gone to new homes, with Whitsunday Friends of the RSPCA co-ordinators Maria Simpson and Suz Crabtree both overwhelmed by the community support.

Mrs Simpson said another adoption day would be organised within six months.

“I rang them all back on Monday the ones that were adopted on Sunday to see how they were settling in. Everyone’s very happy,” she said.

FRIENDS FOREVER: Karma was adopted by Matthew Bels at the Whitsunday Friends of the RSPCA adoption day.
