Division one wins in Sarina
Proserpine’s division one pennants team won its round-five game against Sarina on Saturday, returning home with a 72-45 victory.
Shane Spann’s team won its game 24-11, Grahame Kinnear’s unit triumphed 26-15 and Barry Saroglia’s group prevailed 22-19 to earn Proserpine a well-deserved ‘W’.
The division five team played Seaforth at home, falling 42-5 in a one-sided contest.
Sunday afternoon social play saw Jeanette Calway, Flo O’Hanlon, Joy Jeffries and Heather Brown defeat Fran Porter, Sandy Daffara and Maree Daffara 26–13, while Lois Read, Dot Hinschen and Kevin Thorogood accounted for Barbara Dammash, Joan McGrath and Philip Brown 22-21.
The B singles will be played this weekend from 9.30am at the Proserpine Bowls Club. John Henderson will start the day against Ted Cullen, while Steve Lawrie and Shane May will also hit the rink early on.
Last Wednesday the club had pennants practice for this year’s team. Heather Patullo, Wendy Pomeroy, Joan McGrath and Heather Brown defeated Lois Read, Dot Hinschen, June Blair and Maree Daffara 23-11.
In social bowls on the day, Cathy Holmes, Darrell Patullo, Joyce Patullo and Joy Jeffries knocked over Fran Porter, Lill Burke, Flo O’Hanlon and Lillian Harris 22-10.
Pennants play will commence on Thursday at Suburban and a bus will leave the club at 10am.
In other news, Heather Brown contested the final of the Master Singles at Sarina, falling to her opponent 25-19 in a mammoth game.
