Our Whitsunday Sea Eagles falter in huge loss at home
AUSSIE RULES: It was a day to forget for the Whitsunday Sea Eagles on the weekend when they succumbed to a rampant Eastern Swans at The Nest.
The Sea Eagles, who had won their past two matches, suffered their worst loss of the season, going down to the ladder-leading Swans 31.17.203 to 3.3.21 on Saturday at the Whitsunday Sportspark.
Kicking against the wind, Whitsunday started admirably and trailed by just 19 points at quarter-time.
From there it was all oneway traffic for the Swans who kicked 28 goals to two for the rest of the game.
For the Sea Eagles, James Bourke continued his stellar season, while Matt Laskey, Eli Gunders and Ryan McKinnon all tried their hearts out.
Ryan Dempsey, Terrence Neil and Rob Brodhurst each kicked a goal in what was a tough day at the office for Whitsunday.
The Sea Eagles slipped to sixth on the Allied Pickfords Cup ladder behind Moranbah, who had a bye.
There will be no games this weekend.
The Sea Eagles’ next game is against Mackay City Hawks at Harrup Park on June 13.
