Our Whit­sun­day Sea Ea­gles fal­ter in huge loss at home

AUSSIE RULES: It was a day to for­get for the Whit­sun­day Sea Ea­gles on the week­end when they suc­cumbed to a ram­pant Eastern Swans at The Nest.

The Sea Ea­gles, who had won their past two matches, suf­fered their worst loss of the sea­son, go­ing down to the lad­der-lead­ing Swans 31.17.203 to 3.3.21 on Satur­day at the Whit­sun­day Sportspark.

Kick­ing against the wind, Whit­sun­day started ad­mirably and trailed by just 19 points at quar­ter-time.

From there it was all oneway traf­fic for the Swans who kicked 28 goals to two for the rest of the game.

For the Sea Ea­gles, James Bourke con­tin­ued his stel­lar sea­son, while Matt Laskey, Eli Gun­ders and Ryan McKin­non all tried their hearts out.

Ryan Dempsey, Ter­rence Neil and Rob Brod­hurst each kicked a goal in what was a tough day at the of­fice for Whit­sun­day.

The Sea Ea­gles slipped to sixth on the Al­lied Pick­fords Cup lad­der be­hind Mo­ran­bah, who had a bye.

There will be no games this week­end.

The Sea Ea­gles’ next game is against Mackay City Hawks at Har­rup Park on June 13.
