‘Gut­ter stomp’ as­sault

AN 18-YEAR-OLD who as­saulted an­other woman at the Reef Gate­way Ho­tel will spend the next two years on pro­ba­tion.

Jenny Ma­ree Stevenson and a co-ac­cused, be­gan ver­bally abus­ing their vic­tim at the ho­tel on the night of Jan­uary 15, the Proser­pine Mag­is­trate’s Court was told.

Po­lice pros­e­cu­tor El­iz­a­beth Smith said they then pulled her hair and punched her in the face sev­eral times.

She said Stevenson’s coac­cused, who has al­ready faced court, threw a cup of Coke on the vic­tim’s face and spat on her be­fore punch­ing her in the back of her head.

The court was told the vic­tim was kicked in the ribs and face while Stevenson shouted about how she was go­ing to get “gut­ter­stomped tonight”.

In ad­di­tion to the twoyear pro­ba­tion pe­riod, Stevenson was or­dered to per­form 80 hours of un­paid com­mu­nity ser­vice and pay $500 in com­pen­sa­tion for the pain and suf­fer­ing she caused. No con­vic­tion was recorded.
