Thank you

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY VIEWS -

RECENTLY our local Latin dancing club, Latin Madness, hosted the Whitsunday Latin Festival, with a salsa-intensive course in Cannonvale and workshops and parties on Daydream Island.

Guests travelled from as far as Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Cairns as well as locally from Mackay and the Whitsundays.

Our feedback indicates it was very successful, with everyone enjoying the friendly, inclusive nature of the event and the beautiful Whitsunday setting.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many local businesses who made it possible: first the Whitsunday Regional Council for the RADF grant, Kerrin Andrews and Kylah McCarthy from the Fitness Venue, Greg Hammond from Dateline Computers, Opal Harrison for Zumba and decorations, Angela Kay for photos, John and Tim from the PCYC, Steve McDonald from Beach Music, Donna and the staff of Daydream Island who made us very welcome, and finally, Charlotte from the Whitsunday Times.

Organising an event of this nature in a regional area takes an enormous amount of work, and our hardworking president, Jane Streeter, deserves a huge vote of thanks.

We welcome newcomers to our weekly classes and social nights and are already planning the next fun event.

Joanne Vlasic, Secretary Latin Madness
