C-graders shine in monthly medal

The C-graders stole the show in last Satur­day’s Air­lie Beach Ho­tel Monthly Medal.

Kevin Camp­bell was the over­all and C-grade win­ner on the day, card­ing 66 to fin­ish one clear of Trevor Paroz (67) in a near-record field of 79 men and 15 women.

The A-grade medal went to Larry Muller (69) while Kevin Duffy was the best of B-grade with 88.

Caro­line Awdry was the women’s win­ner with 66, edg­ing out Ann Gardel (75) and Tr­ish McNeill (76).

The men’s run­down in­cluded Rob Wil­son, Barry Mor­timer (68), Merv Hin­ton (69), Dave Smith, Troy Hayes, Peter Krause and Travis Clinch (70).

Near­est-the-pins went to Max Lamb (No.2), Grant Ker­slake, Paula Wron­ski (9), Ross Meade (13) and Mel Pat­ullo (16).

Last Thurs­day, a re­duced field of 37 took part in a ver­sus par round. The best score of the day went to di­vi­sion two’s Peter Krause who carded +6 ahead of Bren­don Me­harry (+4).

Di­vi­sion one was won by Mick Bur­rows (+2) while Jon Kent, Chris Doblo, Peter Fox (+1) and Paul Joice (0) com­prised the ball run­down.

The nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion was won by Peter Scrivens (+4) from Peter Fox (+3), Bren­don Me­harry, Dave Gates and Steve Mitchell (+2).

Near­est-the-pins went to Mick Bur­rows (2 and 13), Paul Joice (9) and Peter Stone (16).

This Satur­day, play­ers will at­tempt to qual­ify for the 2015 match­play cham­pi­onships. The top 32 scor­ers will ad- vance.

In other news, Thurs­day play­ers will com­pete in a stable­ford event in two di­vi­sions over nine and 18-holes.

It will also be the farewell day for long-term green­keeper John Grosskreutz.


Ten ju­niors teed-off last Sun­day af­ter­noon at the Proser­pine Golf Club.

Rian Mitchell was the gross and nett win­ner of the three­hole com­pe­ti­tion, card­ing 22 and three ahead of Lo­gan Dev­ery and Lu­cas Creaton.

Jack Val­madre was the six­hole gross win­ner while Harper Hen­der­son-Feld­man (28) took the nett prize ahead of Jack (29) and Jaxon Hen­der­son-Feld­man (37).

Levi Holmes took home both the gross and nett prizes in the nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion.


Penny Wardroper won the McNeill Build­ing Monthly Medal last Wed­nes­day, pip­ping 13 other golfers.

Penny scored 72 to fin­ish clear of Jac­qui Wall (73), Mar­lene Gray (74) and Me­lanie Pat­ullo (75).

Near­est-the-pins went to Me­lanie Pat­ullo (16) and Jo Muller (9) while the for­mer also fin­ished the day with the least num­ber of putts (29).

The only chip-in prize of the day went to Jac­qui Wall who chipped-in from 70m on No.14.
