Ten­nis recog­ni­tion for star pupil Sab­rina

A se­ries of out­stand­ing ral­lies has earnt Sab­rina Wal­ter the Ten­nis Whit­sun­day Coach­ing pupil of the week award.

Sab­rina’s lessons at the Can­non­vale Courts were filled with pow­er­ful shots and sub­lime tech­nique.

In other news, Tr­ish Rouse and Betty Wil­son took on Rex Robin­son and John West on Tues­day af­ter­noon, while Darcy Larkin pre­vailed in Whit­sun­day’s own French Open com­pe­ti­tion.

It wasn’t quite Roland Gar­ros but the qual­ity of play was still high.

Elly Watkins and Norm hold also took to the courts on Tues­day, tak­ing on Keith Miles and Dar­ren Rusk in an en­ter­tain­ing dou­bles match.

Wed­nes­day War­riors also con­tested a French Open-style event, with the over­all win­ner be­ing Manahi Ball.

Thurs­day night so­cial ten­nis wel­comed new­comer Piri Web­ber, while Matthew New­ton and Yoko Stim­son also had a hit.

Mon­day af­ter­noon’s Just Do It ju­nior so­cial ten­nis hosted stars Jasper McKin­non and Ray Cook among oth­ers, while Ta­nia Dorr and Su­san But­ler were the stand­outs in Fit, Fun Ten­nis – the up­beat gym work­out on a ten­nis court – on Fri­day morn­ing.
