A FRENCH tourist ac­cused of stab­bing his younger brother twice dur­ing an ar­gu­ment over a pizza box has been granted bail.

Stephan Paul Lu­cien Rey was ini­tially brought be­fore the Proser­pine Mag­is­trates Court fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent at a Bowen car­a­van park last Wed­nes­day.

The 29-year-old made no ap­pli­ca­tion for bail and was re­manded in cus­tody un­til Mon­day morn­ing’s sit­ting of the court when an in­ter­preter and duty lawyer would be present.

Rey’s younger brother, who was trans­ported to Mackay Base Hos­pi­tal with wounds to his chest and ab­domen in­clud­ing a 30cm lac­er­a­tion that re­quired but­ter­fly stiches, was present in court on Mon­day morn­ing.

Rey, who is eight months into his work­ing hol­i­day in Aus­tralia, was granted bail to ap­pear at a later date, on the con­di­tion he sur­ren­der his pass­port and re­side in town.
