Wet weather not enough to keep karters off track
A SMALLER than usual field took to the Whitsunday Raceway on Sunday for round four of the Whitsunday Motosports Club karting club championship, with many choosing not to risk the wet weather.
However, with the sun coming through early in the morning, the track was in good condition by the time racing began.
Damian White took out the Cadet 9 division, with Ripley Beale finishing second in his first race with the club.
Lara Hadlow took home the gold in Cadet 12, with no other racers taking part.
In the Sportsman Light, Darryl Stark held off Liam McLaren to claim the line honours.
Andrew Vella crossed first in the Sportsman Heavy ahead of Bevan Garioch and Bryan Reitano.
Daniel Murrell was too good in the Junior National Light, edging out Nicholas Garioch and Lincholn Baker to take home the points.
In the Junior National Heavy, it was Nathan Hadlow finishing on top of the podium with Leonie Ansell in second and Heather Ansell in third.
FAST: Bevan Garioch, Andrew Vella and Bryan Reitamo.
