Run set for The Living Room
THE Whitsundays is set to feature on our television screens again this year, with Channel 10’s The Living Room filming on Whitehaven Beach on Saturday.
TV personality Dr Chris Brown took part in the Great Whitehaven Beach Run on the weekend, conquering the 10.5km race.
If running on sand wasn’t hard enough, there was also a strong headwind to contend with on the return journey back down Whitehaven Beach.
“I’ve felt better but I’ve got to say it’s one of the most truly beautiful, spectacular runs you will see in the world,” Dr Brown said.
“...I had lots of chats along the way with different people and everyone was in really good spirits.”
One of the people Dr Brown “chatted” with was Airlie Beach Running Festival co-ordinator Wendy Downes OAM.
Ms Downes said she “stalked” her idol “asking him if he would come to my event”.
“He’s such a lovely man,” she said, noting how thrilled she was when he offered to take a “selfie” of them both that’s scored about 2000 hits on her Facebook page.
“Everyone was getting their photos taken with him. I was looking for someone to take the photo of us and he said ‘it’s ok, I can do that’. He’s got long arms,” she joked.
Dr Brown’s running adventure will be shown on Channel 10 later in the year and the celebrity vet said it would be well worth watching.
“We’ve got a few little surprises around Hamilton Island, which we can’t reveal too much about,” he said.
“It’s very undercover and it’s going to show an interesting, never-before-seen side of the island. We’re looking forward to showing the spectacular side but also the potential humorous side as well.”
