Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

“THESE are real people, riding real bulls, raising money for a real battle,” suicide awareness campaigner Jack Lumby said about A Mile in Their Shoes’ first Bullarama.

In association with the Proserpine Rodeo Association and the Central Rodeo Cowboys Association, the event which will be held at the Reef Gateway Hotel on July 4 and will raise money and awareness for those suffering from depression in the Whitsunday community.

"We are working with the Grapevine Group in Mackay to deliver the Lifeline Safe Talk program of suicide awareness into our community. We wish to have our own local trainers to deliver the program and monies raised will help us achieve this. At present the Bald Eagles fund the expenses to bring facilitators into our town. Mates looking after Mates as our motto states," Mr Lumby said. “Come along and enjoy a night of excitement and fun and watch these courageous cowboys ride these huge Brahman Bulls.

“It takes lots of guts to ride these beasts, similar to the guts necessary to take on depression."

Those interested in nomi- nating in the Bullarama should phone 4927 1916 for the chance to win cash from $300 to $2000.
