Division five pennants loss for Proserpine
The Proserpine Bowls Club suffered a loss to North Mackay last weekend, falling 71-48.
The division five team played in North Mackay last Saturday when Ross Reville’s team lost 34-10, Barry Zillmann’s group won 18-16 and Vince Olsen’s boys went down 21-20.
This weekend the team will host Souths Suburban at Proserpine from 11am on Saturday while the division one team will play Mackay on Sunday at home.
In other news, Gavin Milne, Shane Spann and Wayne Handley teamed with Airlie Beach’s Andrew Bell for a terrific campaign at the Australian Open on the Gold Coast.
Handley and Bell got through the sectional play in both the singles and pairs, going down to stiff competition in the knockout rounds.
Meanwhile in last Sunday’s social play, Col Gifford, Flo O’Hanlon, Barbara Dam- mash and Heather Brown defeated John Lahney, John Dammash, Dot Hinschen and Gordon Kay 26-17 while Jeanette Calway, Fran Porter and John Henderson won over Carlie Albertson, Norma Daniels and Kevin Thorogood 20-4.
LAST Tuesday, the ladies had a trip to Sarina for pennants’ play.
Heather Brown’s team defeated Carmel Jenkin’s team 27-18 while Maree Daffara’s group went down 24-19 to Jenny Dyce’s team. Overall, Proserpine won the day 4642.
In other news, last Wednesday two games of consistency singles were played.
Lois Read defeated Wendy Pomeroy 113-97 and Amy Hart got the better of Carlie Albertson 151-59.
In social play, Col Gifford, Faye Brazel and Barbara Dammash knocked over Darrell Patullo, Fran Porter and Flo O’Hanlon 23-17 while Judy McKenzie, Gordon Kay and Heather Patullo ousted Mary Hedgelong, Tony Brazel and Lillian Harris 22-14.
Also this week Fran Porter and Lillian Harris represented Proserpine at the official district visit at Suburban.
In competition games coming up, the club will host Club Championship Pairs’ matches on June 28 from 1.30pm.
Patroness and life member Flo O’Hanlon will also host her day of bowls on July 8.
