Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

Rick Williams has won through to the semi-final of the Airlie Beach Bowls Club’s Agrade singles competition.

Williams defeated Kevin Jewell 27-16 last weekend in difficult conditions.

He will now play Peter Lawton on Saturday to determine who advances to the final to play against Armando Isgro.

In other news, the women won their double-header at home against North Mackay and Mackay City last Tuesday.

The Airlie Beach ladies were victorious in both games, which came down to the wire.

Sunday’s social play saw Tess Walker, Rosemary Dace and Elaine Hadlow defeat Erin Doxey, Rhonda Lloyd and Margo Stanley 19-12 while Gus Ferliano and Peter Lawton knocked over Wally Gray and Dom Sposato 13-11.

Herb Secomb and Graham Dace also won over Eric Bottle and Nik Fernbach 14-10.

This weekend, the Airlie Beach men’s pennant team will play against South Suburban on Sunday with the winner most likely to win the pennant title for 2015.

The club would also like to advise that nominations for the Champion of Champions are required.
