On your marks for lagoon race day

Whitsunday Times - - REEF FESTIVAL -

RACERS, on your marks –it’s almost time to let loose the recyclable rafts.

The Airlie Beach Lagoon will be a riot of colour, crafts and laughs this Sunday for the Whitsunday Times Lagoon Race Day, featuring the Recyclable Regatta.

The regatta gets under way at 10am, so bring your camera, as there’s sure to be more than a few moments worth capturing.

Competitors will start from the shore and race around the markers and back to the shore, where there will be a mad dash up to the finish line.

The fun doesn’t end there, either, with the Great Inflatable Races keeping the water fun flowing.

So bring your pool ponies, inflatable rings and the classic pool noodle to join in on the mayhem.

If getting wet isn’t part of your game plan, the Paper Boat Races could be perfect for you.

Just create your craft and set it loose across the lagoon.
