LADIES

The final of the Club Championship Pairs went right down to the wire on Wednesday.

Dot Hinschen and Lois Read cemented their shot advantage in the final few ends of the game, with Jo Peasley and Barbara Dammash trying to make up a small but seemly insurmountable deficit with ends running out. Dot and Lois won 26-16. There was also one game of Consistency Singles played. Even though it was a first-round game, it was played with the intensity of a final.

Maree Daffara was ahead most of the game, with Heather Brown catching her up briefly.

At the completion of the 20th end scores were level at 100, though Heather had a minus five at this point of the game. Ultimately Maree won 109 to Heather’s 101.

In social play, Annette Patullo, Betty Evans and John Dammash defeated Adrian Watt, Lill Burke, Norma Daniels and Pepper Evans 1715, while Cathy Holmes and Flo O’Hanlon knocked over Fran Porter and Heather Patullo 29-12.
