Seven bail breaches in a month
BENJAMIN Kody McClements was brought to the Proserpine Magistrate’s Court in custody on Monday morning having breached his bail conditions seven times since July 10.
The 29-year-old was given conditions to report to a de- signated police station on July 8 but police prosecutor Elizabeth Smith told the court that he had failed to attend on July 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22 and 24.
McClements was located at 10.10am on Monday and arrested, before being brought before the court.
Duty lawyer Sherrie Meade said McClements “didn’t realise his conditions were to report more than once a week”.
“When he realised that he failed to attend once he didn’t want to get arrested,” she added.
He was fined $200.
