Handley’s team wins 200s carnival
The Proserpine Bowls Club’s men’s 200s carnival has been run and won for 2015.
As expected, the two-day tournament was a huge success, particularly for Peter Blackburn (Suburban), Wayne Handley (Proserpine), Steve Ridolfi (Suburban) and Mark Gunders (Brisbane), who scored five wins to finish +77.
Second went to the Proserpine team of Nathan Dodds, Shane Kinnear, Michael Kinnear and Grahame Kinnear, who finished with five wins and +64 while Noel Brand (Mackay), Jonathan Bye (Proserpine) and Barry Saroglia (Proserpine) finished third with five wins and +49. Kerry Martin’s Townsville team came fourth, while the group of Rick Williams (Airlie Beach), Bruce Bridger (Subur- ban), Nathan Harriott (Airlie Beach) and Andrew Bell (Airlie Beach) claimed fifth from Bob McMahon (Airlie Beach), Martin Corr (Proserpine), An- dy Monk (Proserpine) and Stephen Spillsbury.
In seventh was Wilson Alexander’s Northern Beaches outfit ahead of a team from Musgrave Hill.
Round wins also went to teams from Northern Beaches, Tamworth, RSL, Ingham and Seaforth.
On Wednesday, there were three games of social bowls played. Fran Porter and Maree Daffara defeated Norma Daniels and Lois Read 18–0, while Annette Patullo, Trevor Trevillian (Bateman’s Bay) and Heather Patullo drew with Carlie Albertson, Joyce Patullo and Pepper Evans (Coonabarabran) 20–20.
Jo Peasley, Lill Burke and Flo O’Hanlon knocked over Gail Murray, Cathy Holmes and Joy Jeffries 16–12 to round out the day’s play.
On Sunday, the Proserpine Bowls Club hosts a Club Championship Triples game between Fran Porter, Jo Peasley, Barbara Dammash, Vicki Spann, Lillian Harris and Heather Brown. In other news, a number of ladies will contest the Friendship Shield at St Helen’s on Thursday.
