Han­d­ley’s team wins 200s car­ni­val

The Proser­pine Bowls Club’s men’s 200s car­ni­val has been run and won for 2015.

As ex­pected, the two-day tour­na­ment was a huge suc­cess, par­tic­u­larly for Peter Black­burn (Sub­ur­ban), Wayne Han­d­ley (Proser­pine), Steve Ri­dolfi (Sub­ur­ban) and Mark Gun­ders (Bris­bane), who scored five wins to fin­ish +77.

Sec­ond went to the Proser­pine team of Nathan Dodds, Shane Kin­n­ear, Michael Kin­n­ear and Gra­hame Kin­n­ear, who fin­ished with five wins and +64 while Noel Brand (Mackay), Jonathan Bye (Proser­pine) and Barry Saroglia (Proser­pine) fin­ished third with five wins and +49. Kerry Martin’s Townsville team came fourth, while the group of Rick Wil­liams (Air­lie Beach), Bruce Bridger (Subur- ban), Nathan Har­riott (Air­lie Beach) and An­drew Bell (Air­lie Beach) claimed fifth from Bob McMa­hon (Air­lie Beach), Martin Corr (Proser­pine), An- dy Monk (Proser­pine) and Stephen Spills­bury.

In sev­enth was Wil­son Alexan­der’s North­ern Beaches out­fit ahead of a team from Mus­grave Hill.

Round wins also went to teams from North­ern Beaches, Tam­worth, RSL, Ing­ham and Seaforth.

LADIES

On Wed­nes­day, there were three games of so­cial bowls played. Fran Porter and Maree Daf­fara de­feated Norma Daniels and Lois Read 18–0, while An­nette Pat­ullo, Trevor Tre­vil­lian (Bate­man’s Bay) and Heather Pat­ullo drew with Car­lie Al­bert­son, Joyce Pat­ullo and Pep­per Evans (Coon­abarabran) 20–20.

Jo Peasley, Lill Burke and Flo O’Han­lon knocked over Gail Mur­ray, Cathy Holmes and Joy Jef­fries 16–12 to round out the day’s play.

On Sun­day, the Proser­pine Bowls Club hosts a Club Cham­pi­onship Triples game be­tween Fran Porter, Jo Peasley, Bar­bara Dam­mash, Vicki Spann, Lil­lian Harris and Heather Brown. In other news, a num­ber of ladies will con­test the Friend­ship Shield at St He­len’s on Thurs­day.
