Airport concerns

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY VIEWS -

The proposed International Airport’s master plan and feasibility study stated “Airlines may utilise WCA (Whitsunday Coast Airport) as a domestic network airport rather than implement new international services due to existing links in Cairns and Brisbane”. This statement is alarming, to say the least! Given that the consultants prepared this feasibility and master plan and identified that even if we have an international airport, international airlines may not use it. Question to the Mayor: What International Airlines have been contacted to see if they would schedule regular flights, if any and what were their responses?

I can only hope that before there is a commitment to spend over one hundred million dollars to bring international air travellers to our region we have some kind of commitment from the airlines that they will use our facility. Rogin Taylor Conway
