An epic weekend to roar on in
THE Whitsunday Sporting Car Club will host a mammoth weekend on Saturday and Sunday and encourages everyone to come along.
It all starts Saturday morning from 9am with iDRIVE, the club’s junior driving training course at the carpark of the Whitsunday PCYC and Sportspark in Jubilee Pocket.
Open to beginner drivers from ages 12 and up, this is the perfect opportunity to let your future rev head finally get amongst it in a safe environment.
CQUniversity has thrown its support behind iDRIVE, with the club already hosting several courses in Mackay and more planned.
With a program structured around the basic discipline of Motorkhana, its main goal is to engage new junior motor sport participants (12-18 year olds) by developing their driving skills to a level where they can confidently compete in club level motor sport events.
“Motorkhanas are a great introduction to motor sport, testing a participant’s acceleration, braking and manoeuvrability skills in a variety of small tests marked out by witches’ hats,” said 2015 iDRIVE co-ordinator Mark Horder.
Then from 1pm witness a motorkhana challenge in the same carpark, with registrations still open or watch for free.
On Sunday head out to Tonker Park (on the way to the airport) for a dirt khanacross.
Scrutineering starts at 8am with racing at 9am.
BIG WEEKEND: The Whitsunday Sporting Car Club is where the action is at.
