Whitsunday Times - - CHILL. -

THE setting sun, a drink on the deck and a song in the air; the Whitsunday Sailing Club’s Sunday Jam Session is the ultimate way to while away a lazy afternoon.

Your hosts for the event will be world-renowned guitarist Phil Emmanuel and local musical talent Pop Standen.

Emmanuel is known for his talent with the electric guitar, having performed with greats such as Eric Clapton, Slim Dusty and John Farnham.

With more than five de- cades experience in the industry, Emmanuel knows his way around a six-string better than most.

He’s certainly versatile as well, being well versed in everything from jazz to country, and from rock to the blues.

Joining Emmanuel in blowing musical minds is our local singer with attitude Pop Standen.

Standen is no one-trick pony either, covering everything from country and blues to rock and roll.

The singer/songwriter has had a long touring career, wowing crowds in New Zealand, Fiji and the UK.

There’s more than just a chance to hear some top class tunes at the Sunday Jam Session however.

Anyone who feels up to taking to the stage can do just that, with an open-mic section giving you the floor.

Its fun, its free and its a fine way to end the weekend, so pick up your strum-machine and get ready to rock.

DYNAMIC DUO: Pop Standen and Phil Emmanuel will see the crowd singing along at the Whitsunday Sailing Club on Sunday.
