Fi­nals time for ju­nior Whit­sun­day Sea Ea­gles

AUSSIE RULES: All three ju­nior Sea Ea­gles teams will be­gin their Mackay AFL fi­nals cam­paigns this week­end af­ter qual­i­fy­ing for the post-sea­son.

The un­der-17s are straight through to the pre­lim­i­nary fi­nal on Septem­ber 5, fac­ing ei­ther the Swans or Saints, who play this week­end.

Whit­sun­day’s 17s warmed-up for the fi­nals with a 92-54 loss to the Saints on Satur­day in Mackay.

Rhys Fuhrmann, Hud­son McGre­gor and Mathew Jenk­ins each kicked two goals on the day, while Sam Cor­nish, Ja­cob Healey and Mitchell Healey each chimed in with one.

Although they lost, the team was un­der­manned and sus­tained sev­eral key in­juries dur­ing the match.

Else­where, the un­der-15s must win to keep their sea­son alive, fac­ing a date with the Eastern Swans in an elim­i­na­tion fi­nal at Mag­pies Sports Park. Af­ter fin­ish­ing the sea­son as mi­nor pre­miers, the un­der-13s play Sa­rina at Rogers Oval on Satur­day morn­ing.

The game starts at 8.15am.
