Birthday bash for Mama’s

Annual jungle party to go off in fancy dress spectacular

Whitsunday Times - - CHILL -

IT IS 14 years and counting for Mama Africa, who will celebrate the milestone on Sunday night.

The club’s annual jungle party returns for what’s tipped to be one of the biggest birthday celebrations in the venue’s history.

“It (the jungle party) is always pretty huge,” Mama Africa’s co-owner Stacy Harvey said.

The venue will be flooded with Tarzan look-a-likes, animals, safari costumes and a whole bunch of jungle paraphernalia.

The highlight of the night will undoubtedly be in the infamous balloon drop, which sees Mama Africa awash with colour.

“We have a couple of hundred balloons in the roof that drop down at midnight. They are filled with vouchers, boat trips and bar tabs,” Ms Harvey said.

There are also cash prizes up for grabs on the night, with $1000 on offer for the best dressed party-goer. Doors open at 9pm. Entry is free, so come on down in your finest outfits.
