Car climbs to yet another victory
IT WAS another win for 20year-old Michael Von Rappard at the Noosa Hill Climb event last week, as he competed in his Hayabusa powered race car.
Noosa Beach Car Club spokesperson Noel St JohnWood said the weekend event ran smoothly, despite Saturday’s high temperatures.
“We managed to dodge the storms and rain on Sunday, and all 170 cars competed over the weekend with no major incidences, so we are very happy,” Mr St John-Wood said.
Michael Von Rappard and his family run a small mechanical workshop in Airlie Beach, and are regular competitors in hill climb events at Noosa and interstate.
“We were impressed with the atmosphere of the Noosa event, and the challenging 1.5km circuit,” Michael said.
According to Mr St JohnWood, the competition over the weekend was very fierce in most categories, with place winners being decided by fractions of a second.
The Von Rappards are well known on the hill climb scene, and Mr St JohnWood said it is always a pleasure to have them compete.
“It’s a pleasure to have the Von Rappards here at this event. They are such a nice family, and it’s good to see them do well after so much effort.”
Hill climbing is one of the oldest forms of competitive motorsport and enjoys a strong following throughout Australia.
