Caltex ambrose produces low Whitsunday Golf Club scores
The Caltex two-ball ambrose competition got off to a flying start on Sunday with 39 players (one swinging player) taking to the course.
The scores painted the picture on the day, with friendly course conditions paving the way for a wealth of low cards. Linda and Scotty Wardroper proved too strong at the Pro- serpine Golf Club, edging out Leanne Abernethy and Rod Wecker to win by just one stroke.
The ball rundown comprised Gary Goddard and Mark Winter, David Hoy and Ian Giles (64), Brad Hammond and Kym Hill (64.25), Pauline Redpath and Wayne Temby (65), Kym Hill and Ross Richards (65.5), Tessa Aitken and Don Hope and Robyn and Kevin Mills.
Longest drive prizes were won by Kym Hill (B-grade), Mark McDougall (B-grade), Anna Winterbourn (ladies) and Linda Wardroper (ladies). Nearest-the-pins went to Kym Hill, Ross Richards, Brad Hammond (No 2), Kev Lovett and Ron Thynne (9), Kym Hill and Ross Richards (12), Tessa Aitken and Don Hope and Linda and Scott Wardroper (16).
This Sunday the medal of medals will be held at the Proserpine Golf Club, with a draw for the contenders. Other players are encouraged to make their own groups. On December 6 the president v captain’s game will be followed by the AGM.
