Cal­tex am­brose pro­duces low Whit­sun­day Golf Club scores

The Cal­tex two-ball am­brose com­pe­ti­tion got off to a fly­ing start on Sun­day with 39 play­ers (one swing­ing player) tak­ing to the course.

The scores painted the pic­ture on the day, with friendly course con­di­tions paving the way for a wealth of low cards. Linda and Scotty Wardroper proved too strong at the Pro- ser­pine Golf Club, edg­ing out Leanne Aber­nethy and Rod Wecker to win by just one stroke.

The ball run­down com­prised Gary God­dard and Mark Win­ter, David Hoy and Ian Giles (64), Brad Ham­mond and Kym Hill (64.25), Pauline Redpath and Wayne Temby (65), Kym Hill and Ross Richards (65.5), Tessa Aitken and Don Hope and Robyn and Kevin Mills.

Long­est drive prizes were won by Kym Hill (B-grade), Mark McDougall (B-grade), Anna Win­ter­bourn (ladies) and Linda Wardroper (ladies). Near­est-the-pins went to Kym Hill, Ross Richards, Brad Ham­mond (No 2), Kev Lovett and Ron Thynne (9), Kym Hill and Ross Richards (12), Tessa Aitken and Don Hope and Linda and Scott Wardroper (16).

This Sun­day the medal of medals will be held at the Proser­pine Golf Club, with a draw for the con­tenders. Other play­ers are en­cour­aged to make their own groups. On De­cem­ber 6 the pres­i­dent v cap­tain’s game will be fol­lowed by the AGM.
