Ray White knocked out of A-grade touch title contention

Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

Ray White will not defend their Whitsunday Touch A-grade title, meaning there will be a new winner after years of dominance from the veteran team.

Ray White went down to Wolves on Monday night at the Whitsunday Sportspark, falling 4-3 in an epic tussle.

The result means Wolves will now play Young Guns for the A-grade premiership on Monday.

For years Young Guns have come close to winning the touch competition but they’ve traditionally been thwarted by Ray White.

This year only the Wolves stand in the way of a historic Whitsunday Touch triumph for Young Guns.

In other results, Whitsunday Food overcame Amalgamated 5-3 to advance to the Bgrade decider against Grogodiles.

Similarly, Heatstroke is into their division’s grand final after recording a dominant 10-3 victory over High Flyers.

Heatstroke now face Can’t Touch This.

Presentations for all three grades will take place after the A-grade grand final, which starts at 7pm on Monday.

In other news, junior touch will host their season breakup on Monday from 5.15pm.

“We’d like all kids who have played to turn up,” Whitsunday Touch’s Justin Butler said.

“There will be games, a sprint challenge for each age group and a free sausage sizzle for players.”
