Three-day bender leads to probation for local man
A MAN who went on a threeday “bender” while affected by drugs has been placed on probation.
Mark Stephan Noble arrived at Proserpine Magistrates Court in custody, charged with entering a premises with intent, trespass and contravening a police direction.
The court heard how, on December 3, Noble, had gone to the Whitsunday Sailing Club and tried to move a boat with a tractor. When police arrived he said he had been given the boat by a friend. On December 4, he went to Little Vegas in Airlie Beach and followed another person around, who became frightened and asked him to leave.
On December 5, Noble smashed the window of a van in Coral Esplanade, Cannon- vale, and rummaged around inside. He was taken into custody but refused to supply a DNA sample.
Duty lawyer Antoinette Morton said the 43-year-old, from Mackay, had a major breakdown and had turned to substance abuse. She said he had become confused and thought he owned half the boat. “He was affected by ice,” she said.
Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist said “we’ll call this threeday period a bender”.
Noble was placed on probation for 15 months.
