Whit­sun­days has Christ­mas sorted

NOT sure what to do on Christ­mas Day? Don’t feel like cook­ing up a storm? Well we’ve got a com­pre­hen­sive guide to what’s hap­pen­ing in the Whit­sun­days on De­cem­ber 25.

There’s no short­age of venues open­ing up their kitchens this Christ­mas, with plenty of restau­rants host­ing lunches and din­ners.

The Reef Gate­way Ho­tel is host­ing lunch from 11.30am, at a cost of $80 per per­son.

Sor­rento Restau­rant and Bar is also bring­ing the fes­tive cheer, with the Abell Point Ma­rina venue open­ing its doors from 11am.

Book­ing is es­sen­tial for Christ­mas lunch but Sor­rento is also serv­ing its reg­u­lar pizza and pasta menu on the day.

At the other end of the ma­rina, Barcelona will ser­vice cus­tomers un­til 9pm on Christ­mas Day, with shar­ing plat­ters and a ban­quet.

Closer to Air­lie Beach, Ca­pers is offering three dif­fer­ent op­tions on Christ­mas Day, in- clud­ing prawns, smoked tur­key and ham with roast veg­eta­bles as well as desserts.

Lunch at the Air­lie Beach Ho­tel restau­rant starts at noon but the reg­u­lar menu is also avail­able.

At the Colo­nial Palms Mo­tor Inn there will be oys­ters, prawn cock­tails, scal­lops, tur­key, baked ham and plum pud­ding from 12.30pm.

Lunch at Colo­nial Palms, which costs $115 per per­son, comes with a com­pli­men­tary glass of cham­pagne.

Tides Restau­rant and Bar isn’t only offering lunch and din­ner on Christ­mas Day, it’s also throw­ing in a com­pli­men­tary shut­tle bus to Pep­pers, leav­ing from the Whit­sun­day Shop­ping Cen­tre, Air­lie Beach main street and the Ju­bilee Pocket IGA.

The menu it­self in­cludes three cour­ses in­clud­ing char­grilled sword fish, salt and pep­per soft shell crab, scal­lops, prawns, smoked salmon and oys­ters.

Sim­i­larly, Den­mans Cel­lars is deck­ing the halls with Christ­mas spirit, offering a feast that in­cludes: prawns, oys­ters, lob­ster, salmon, mus­sels, oc­to­pus, smoked ham and roast lamb.

The Christ­mas pack­age, which costs $95 per per­son or $30 per child, in­cludes a meal, drink and a present.

Hamil­ton Is­land will host Christ­mas Eve carols by can­dle­light from 5.30pm.

The event in­cludes a sausage siz­zle, re­fresh­ments and even a visit from Santa.

Bom­mie Restau­rant (lunch and din­ner), Mariners Restau­rant (lunch), Sails, Steak and Seafood Grill (lunch), Pool Ter­race Restau­rant (lunch), Coca Chu Restau­rant (lunch) and Ro­mano’s Ital­ian Restau­rant (din­ner) are also bring­ing the Christ­mas cheer.

Over on Day­dream Is­land there will be two fun-filled days of gourmet food, en­ter­tain­ment and ac­tiv­i­ties on Christ­mas and Box­ing days.
