Wobbly Boot kicking ahead in twilight race

Whitsunday Times - - ON THE WATER -

NO MULTIHULLS were out on Pioneer Bay for the second race in the Sailing Club’s December Twilight Series, so Division 2 was the first fleet away last week.

Wobbly Boot timed the start perfectly and enjoyed the clear air around the track.

Treasure VIII and QMS were soon involved in their usual tight racing, with the

QMS crew keeping the pressure on their rivals right up to the finish, where barely a minute separated the two, with the race ending in Trea

sure VIII’s favour. It was a close call for the best start between Kameru

ka and High Tide in Division 3, but the ever consistent Shannon Hart ( High Tide) just beat Bob Beale ( Kame

ruka) to steal the award. The two boats remained close during the race, with 40 seconds between them at the finish and Synchronicity only 15 seconds back.

Masquerade and Anthea engaged in some close quarter racing, but the Masque

rade crew found their legs in the final lap and pushed ahead to take Anthea on the line and claim the handicap win.

Presentations were held at the club and competitors analysed their race, while looking forward to the Commodore’s Ball on Saturday night, where all series winners from the 2015 calendar were announced, along with the much anticipated Club Person and Yachts Person of the year awards.
