Coast Guardian’s Keagan Ryan heading to Melbourne.

Having spent the past 20 months in the region, Keagan is taking over as editor of Multisport Magazine.

“It’s a new challenge, but I’m looking forward to it,” he said.

Relocating from Mount Isa in April last year, Keagan quickly found his feet here in the Whitsundays.

“I probably learnt as much about myself as I have about the industry in my time here,” he said.

“I’m definitely going to miss the weather and the lifestyle. Moving to Melbourne is going to be a shock to the system at first.”

Having played AFL, cricket and tennis during his time here, Keagan said the local community had been very welcoming.

“I remember when I came here playing sport was definitely a good way to meet people and socialise,” he said.

“It was daunting moving to a place where I didn’t actually know anyone, but I think playing sport definitely eased that pressure a bit.”

Despite his fondness for the Whitsundays, Keagan said he was looking forward to living in the city.

“I’ve always loved Melbourne and it’s closer to family as well,” he said.
