Wyllie claims big win in weekend stableford
Ken Wyllie (43) scooped the pool on Saturday, claiming the Metropole Hotel Stableford from a field of 68 men.
In the rundown were Ross Richards, Kevin Campbell, Peter Fox, Tony Sellwood, Gary Scotford (42), Matt Beach (41), Perri Simpson (40), Scott Grigg, Karl Wolzak, Dean Kercher and Matt Goldman (39).
In a good field of 16 players, Penny Wardroper pipped Sherri Meade on countback in the ladies’ (37), ahead of Mel Patullo (36) and Mandy Patterson (34).
Nearest the pins went to Gary Scotford (2), Pascal Neunreuther and Mandy Patterson (9), Ken Wyllie (13) and Barry Mortimer (16).
The two shot club was shared five ways between Brad Albertson, Ken Wyllie, Sherri Meade, Scott Grigg (13), Pascal Neunreuther (9) and Dave Thomas (16).
In the Beat the Pro comp, 25 players bettered Kane Nustling’s score with 25 below.
There were some great scores on Thursday with Div.1 and Div.2 winners coming in six under par.
Jon Kent took out Div.1 and Matt Beach won Div.2 (nett 65).
Runner-up in Div.1 was Dave Rumble, beating Conrad Werner on countback (67), ahead of John Grosskreutz and Chris Doblo (69). In Div.2, runner-up was Mike George (68), ahead of Jim Dowell, Mick Caton and Joe Taylor all on 71 nett.
Joe Taylor took out the 9hole comp (nett 32), ahead of Conrad Werner (33), Dave Rumble, Mike George (33.5), Jon Kent (34) and Mark Thompson (34.5).
Nearest the pins went to Mike George on No.2, Wayne Russell (9), John Grosskreutz (13) and Conrad Wer- ner (16).
This Saturday will see players fighting it out in a Chapman Foursomes, while Thursday players will compete in a stroke event. DAWN BUSTERS Sunday saw the dawnies play the back nine.
Everyone managed to get a bit damp but finished before it rained too heavily.
The winner was Bruce Upchurch with 57/41, while the runner up after a chip-off was Clay Coles from Mark Cohen (47/43).
Travis Clinch was nearest the pins on No.13, with Clay Coles taking it on No.16.
Beryl Nosworthy was the winner of both the snake putter and the bradman this week.
Mick Burrows won the least number of puts with 12.
Next week the dawnies will play the front nine. VETERANS Nick Apruzzese beat out a field of 24 in the nine hole comp with 21, pushing Bill Jesser back into runner up on 19.

Nearest the pins were Nick Apruzzese for the men and Caroline Awdry for the ladies.
In the 18 hole comp, Nick Apruzzese again claimed the laurels (37) ahead of Caroline Awdry (37). In the rundown were Bill Jesser (37), Trevor Paroz (36), Jim Dowell (35) and Warren Deighton.
Nearest the pins were Peter Lewis and Mandy Patterson.
There is no game next week due to Australia Day, with play to resume the following week.
