Wyl­lie claims big win in week­end sta­ble­ford

Ken Wyl­lie (43) scooped the pool on Satur­day, claim­ing the Metropole Ho­tel Sta­ble­ford from a field of 68 men.

In the run­down were Ross Richards, Kevin Camp­bell, Peter Fox, Tony Sell­wood, Gary Scot­ford (42), Matt Beach (41), Perri Simp­son (40), Scott Grigg, Karl Wolzak, Dean Kercher and Matt Gold­man (39).

In a good field of 16 play­ers, Penny Wardroper pipped Sherri Meade on count­back in the ladies’ (37), ahead of Mel Pat­ullo (36) and Mandy Patterson (34).

Near­est the pins went to Gary Scot­ford (2), Pas­cal Ne­un­reuther and Mandy Patterson (9), Ken Wyl­lie (13) and Barry Mor­timer (16).

The two shot club was shared five ways be­tween Brad Al­bert­son, Ken Wyl­lie, Sherri Meade, Scott Grigg (13), Pas­cal Ne­un­reuther (9) and Dave Thomas (16).

In the Beat the Pro comp, 25 play­ers bet­tered Kane Nustling’s score with 25 below.

There were some great scores on Thurs­day with Div.1 and Div.2 win­ners com­ing in six un­der par.

Jon Kent took out Div.1 and Matt Beach won Div.2 (nett 65).

Run­ner-up in Div.1 was Dave Rum­ble, beat­ing Con­rad Werner on count­back (67), ahead of John Grosskreutz and Chris Doblo (69). In Div.2, run­ner-up was Mike Ge­orge (68), ahead of Jim Dow­ell, Mick Ca­ton and Joe Tay­lor all on 71 nett.

Joe Tay­lor took out the 9hole comp (nett 32), ahead of Con­rad Werner (33), Dave Rum­ble, Mike Ge­orge (33.5), Jon Kent (34) and Mark Thomp­son (34.5).

Near­est the pins went to Mike Ge­orge on No.2, Wayne Rus­sell (9), John Grosskreutz (13) and Con­rad Wer- ner (16).

This Satur­day will see play­ers fight­ing it out in a Chapman Four­somes, while Thurs­day play­ers will com­pete in a stroke event. DAWN BUSTERS Sun­day saw the dawnies play the back nine.

Ev­ery­one man­aged to get a bit damp but fin­ished be­fore it rained too heav­ily.

The win­ner was Bruce Upchurch with 57/41, while the run­ner up af­ter a chip-off was Clay Coles from Mark Co­hen (47/43).

Travis Clinch was near­est the pins on No.13, with Clay Coles tak­ing it on No.16.

Beryl Nos­wor­thy was the win­ner of both the snake put­ter and the brad­man this week.

Mick Bur­rows won the least num­ber of puts with 12.

Next week the dawnies will play the front nine. VETER­ANS Nick Apruzzese beat out a field of 24 in the nine hole comp with 21, push­ing Bill Jesser back into run­ner up on 19.

In the run­down were Jim Dow­ell, Barry Mor­timer (18), Caro­line Awdry (17), Pa­trick Patterson and Mandy Pat­ter- son (16).

Near­est the pins were Nick Apruzzese for the men and Caro­line Awdry for the ladies.

In the 18 hole comp, Nick Apruzzese again claimed the lau­rels (37) ahead of Caro­line Awdry (37). In the run­down were Bill Jesser (37), Trevor Paroz (36), Jim Dow­ell (35) and War­ren Deighton.

Near­est the pins were Peter Lewis and Mandy Patterson.

There is no game next week due to Aus­tralia Day, with play to re­sume the fol­low­ing week.
