Turning Point in the Twilight Race

Whitsunday Times - - ON THE WATER -

JOINING the multihull fleet last Wednesday in the Whitsunday Sailing Club January Twilight Series was Sirrocco, whose crew enjoyed close racing with Overdrive. Overdrive took the best start award and was a mere 10 seconds from Sirocco at the finish in Sirocco’s favour. It was the newly bought Turning Point which took the line honours’ bragging rights a comfortable 10 minutes ahead of the fleet, showing this is going to be the multihull to beat.

QMS again grabbed the best start in Division 2 and remained in front of the fleet around the course, beating Treasure VIII by over a minute, with Wobbly Boot another minute behind the two.

Twister suffered some unfortunate breakages, with the headsail sheet snapping and a hole in the headsail, causing time loss and forcing them into last position.

Masquerade stole the best start from High Tide again this week, but High Tide fought back to claim the line honours win again just ahead of Kameruka.

Fontana 2 pushed hard, crossing the finish a minute ahead of Masquerade to claim the podium win.

Presentations were at the club as crews looked forward to a weekend of fun at Montes Reef Resort.
