Cannonvale in grip of tennis fever after Australian Open
TENNIS: Tennis, tennis everywhere and isn’t it fantastic?
With the Australian Open featuring every day on television, there has been a wonderful interest in the sport.
The courts were a hive of activity on Monday afternoon.
It was a real family affair – husband-and-wife team Celia and Geoff Smith, brother-and-sister team Nyrie and Jacob Stevenson and mother-and-daughter team Mandy and Sabrina Walter were all on court honing their skills.
Wednesday Warriors hit off on Wednesday afternoon.
There were a few rusty rackets at the start but after a little oil everyone put in a top performance.
Big welcome to newcomers Conner Pearce and Rowan Kangru.
Fit, Fun Tennis, the gym workout on a tennis court, returned to Thursday evening and was a great success.
Well done to Larissa LeeBurgess, Byllie Burgess and Elyse Chiles, who all put in a top evening.
Thursday evening social was another “smokin’ affair” and it was an absolute pleasure to welcome back Rick and Michael Galea.
They had the court on fire. Tracy Bland and Daniel Scott danced around the court.
Fit, Fun Tennis hit off 2016 on Friday morning.
The girls put in a huge effort and their feet never stopped moving. Well done to Kate Applegate and Lesley Nolan.
Just Do It Junior Social tennis on Saturday morning was a bobby dazzler.
It was wonderful to see all four courts in action. Mums and dads and children were all out on court playing tennis together.
One of the families out enjoying tennis was the Barker family.
The coaching pupils of the week were Tate and his mum, Susan Butler, who put in a great half-hour each of movement.
