New cam­era to be on con­stant flood watch

WHEN­EVER the rain starts to fall, the Whit­sun­day Re­gional Coun­cil re­ceives a flood of queries about the sta­tus of Shute Har­bour Rd at Hamil­ton Plains.

A cam­era feed avail­able on­line is set to put a stop to this, giv­ing lo­cals a real-time view of the road.

Mayor Jen­nifer Whit­ney said the spot was cho­sen be­cause of its ten­dency to flood, and would give views both to­wards Proser­pine and Strathdickie.

“The im­ages are up­dated ap­prox­i­mately ev­ery 15 min­utes dur­ing day­light hours,” she said.
