Blanket high-rise

Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

WHY do Mayor Whitney and Cr Clifford want to concrete over the Airlie tourist precinct with blanket highrise?

Why do they cling to the Place Report, which is at odds to the E3 Planning P/L report.

The E3 report was prepared in October 2015 by professionals expert in environmental, urban and regional planning.

It concludes with: “Without any strategic analysis of the potential impacts that an increase in allowable height might have upon economic growth, urban form and character, community cohesion and surrounding precincts, the increases in height proposed are not justified and should not be adopted.”

Town Planning has a copy, your councillor has a copy.

Ask to see it and then you will realise that the council’s Place Report is merely a marketing brochure and does not justify blanket high-rise in Airlie. Andrew Marshall Cannonvale
