Ca­ton takes first 2016 A-grade win

GOLF: Twenty six Whit­sun­day Golf Club mem­bers bat­tled the heat and hu­mid­ity on Sun­day, Jan­uary 31, for the first event of 2016 – the Jan­uary Monthly Medal, spon­sored by Air­lie Panel and Paint.

Mick Ca­ton was the A-grade win­ner on nett 66, while Brad Ham­mond won B-grade on nett 61 and Robyn Mills took out the ladies event with a score of 70.

The run­ners-up in A-grade was Scott Wardroper (70), on count­back from Ernie Hol­stein.

The prize for the best gross score went to Rod Wecker.

In B-grade, the run­ner up was Garry Goddard and the best gross score went to Mark McDougall.

In the ladies event, Anna Win­ter­bourn was run­ner-up with 73, on a count-back from Pauline Red­path.

Penny Wardroper had the best gross score.

The long­est drive awards went to Kym Hill (A-grade), Garry Goddard (B-grade), Anna Win­ter­bourn (ladies Agrade) and Robyn Mills (ladies B-grade).

Near­est the pins went to Ke- vin Mills (all grades), Mick Ca­ton and Danny York (A-grade) who scored the Ea­gles Nest on the 16th hole, Brad Ham­mond (B-grade), Pauline Red­path (ladies A-grade) and Robyn Mills (ladies B-grade).

The club wel­comed two new mem­bers on the day – Richie Atkins and An­thony Whyte.
