Proserpine bowlers baulk at pouring rains and heat

Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

BOWLS: Our bowlers got some respite from the rain on Sunday and the greens were prepared in readiness for play.

Unfortunately, no games were played as there were only four players.

The group retired to the newly air-conditioned club- house, where it was decided to leave play for another day.

Games director Gavin Milne is advising members that Club Championship nomination sheets have been posted.

Nominations for the Club Championship Fours closes on Sunday, March 6, with the competition to be played over the weekend of March 19 and 20.

Closing and playing dates for all other club championship competitions will be advised later.

The ladies club is closer to getting back to bowls, with the rain working wonders for the green in the meantime.

This year is set to be an exciting one for the ladies club, as it will reach its 75th anniversary.

Wednesday bowls resumes on Wednesday, February 17, with the official opening on Wednesday, March 2.

Club members are reminded that on the official opening day the club also has a cent sale and each member is asked to bring along a prize for the day.

The club competition for 2016 is open and closes March 2.

There is an order sheet for club uniforms up on the board and members are asked to fill in details of any items of uniforms needed so an order can be placed reasonably early in the year.
