Lady bowlers al­most back

BOWLS: Ten bowlers took to the greens in Proser­pine on Sun­day af­ter­noon, brav­ing the in­tense heat for a roll.

Wendy Pomeroy, Dot Hin­schen and Barry Zill­mann de­feated Fran Porter, Jim Quod and Kevin Thoro­good 17 – 14, while Sandy Daf­fara and Maree Daf­fara de­feated Philip Brown and Heather Brown 25 – 13.

The ladies club is fi­nally about to break its bowl­ing drought.

Play­ers will hit the greens on Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon for their first of­fi­cial con­test of the year.

Nom­i­na­tions are open for all club com­pe­ti­tions.

Nom­i­na­tions close on the of­fi­cial open­ing day on Wed­nes­day, March 2.

The ladies have re­ceived lots of in­vi­ta­tions to car­ni­vals and events at the district’s clubs.

The club is en­cour­ag­ing bowlers to get into the habit of check­ing the no­tice board.

Satur­day af­ter­noon there will be an­other Proser­pine Premier League round be­ing played at Proser­pine Bowls Club.

All male mem­bers and non mem­bers are wel­come.

Names must be in by 1.30pm ready for a 2pm start.
